Maison Gély with its four bedrooms spans three floors. Open the iron gate and climb the stone steps which lead to the front door. Once inside the house, to the right of the spacious entrance hall is a large and comfortable drawing room with hifi system, telephone, sofa, easy chairs, bookcase, fireplace with custom made sculpted surround. The original wooden beams have been retained in this room to create an elegant yet authentic space.

To the left of the hallway is the dining area and well-appointed fitted kitchen. The dining room is furnished with a traditional large wooden table, chairs and matching buffet. A single french door leads from the dining area to the back of the house and the pool area.

The custom built kitchen is well equipped with electric ceramic hob and oven, large American fridge/freezer, dishwasher, coffee maker, electric kettle, microwave oven, sandwich toaster.

Back in the hallway a door leads to a "wet room" with WC, basin and shower. The grand stone staircase leads to the first floor where you will find three bedrooms.

The spacious and airy master bedroom is furnished with an elaborately carved antique double bed and armoire and has it's own en-suite bathroom. Three windows give this room an exceptional feel and lightness, as well as a view of the pool area and patio to the side of the house. The adjacent bathroom is fitted with a with spa-bath, separate hydro-massage shower cabin, WC and basin.

Bedroom two is furnished with two single antique sleigh beds, a wardrobe and night tables. French doors overlook the former market square at the front of the house.

Bedroom three is opposite bedroom two and furnished with an upholstered double bed, an elegant wardrobe and marble topped bedside tables. This room also overlooks the square at the front of the house.

The family bathroom on this floor is shared by the guests staying in bedroom two and three. It is fitted with roll-top bath and a wide hydro-massage shower cabin, WC and wash basin.

The pool area is reached by steps at the back of the house, and is secured by a locking gate. The swimming pool (7 x 4mt) has an electrically operated security cover, as well as steel steps. A terrace wraps around the pool and is furnished with a wooden dining table and chairs, sun umbrellas and sun loungers. The pool kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, dishwasher, gas cooker and gas BBQ. A WC and solar shower allow you to make the most of outdoor living.

Just outside the front door is a patio area, which is a perfect place for breakfast or relaxing with a book in the shade of the almond tree.

On the lower ground floor of the house you'll find the family room - a very large room in what used to be the wine cellar of the house. This room is furnished with a large sofa and a selection of easy chairs and poufs, as well as a wide screen TV, DVD player, Sky (free to air) receiver.

At the back of this room is bedroom four, which is furnished with two single beds, a wardrobe and bedside tables. This bedroom has an en-suite shower room, which is fitted with a wide hydro-massage shower cabin, WC and wash basin. Also at the back of the family room is the utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Access

The area's airports are well served by budget airlines (Ryanair, Easyjet) as well as by regular carriers offering competitive fares. The TGV high speed train stops at Beziers and Narbonne. Distances from Causses-et-Veyran to the airports in the region are below.

More about Causses-et-Veyran


Causses-et-Veyran is a typical Languedocien village, with history dating back to pre-historic times. Towers from the Roman period can be found in the middle of a vineyard, remains of an 11th century priory, and the parish church dating from the 10th and 11th century are all worth a visit. Walks take you around the village and open up stunning views. The vineyards around the village are part of the AOC Saint-Chinian wine area and there are a number of wineries in and close to the village, where you can taste and buy. In the village you have a bread shop, which is open every morning, a cafe-bar and a public tennis court.
Shops and restaurants are to be found in Murviel les Beziers (7km) and Cessenon (7km); a little further but not to be missed is St Chinian (15km) with a twice weekly market. The nearby village of Roquebrun (8km) offers great river swimming and canoeing.
